2025 Beijing Dangdai Art Fair takes place from May 22 to 25 at Hall 11 of the National Agricultural Exhibition Center (NAEC). Under the theme “CONCAVE-CONVEX”, this edition continues to explore the depth and diversity of value within contemporary art. The press conference of the Beijing Contemporary Art Fair was successfully held on April 25, with more than a hundred media, representatives of participating institutions and partners gathered on the scene. Bao Dong, artistic director of Beijing Dangdai Art Fair, along with guests attended the event and unveiled the highlights and new initiatives of this year’s Fair, all look forward to the arrival of the “Beijing Art Season”.

This year, with the support of industry authorities and Beijing International Design Week, the Beijing Dangdai Art Fair jointly initiated and co-constructed the“Beijing Art Season”. Together with large-scale art events such as Gallery Weekend Beijing and ART021 BEIJING, it will lead and promote Beijing in May to become an important destination on the global art calendar.
Local Characteristics around the World
This year's Beijing Dangdai Art Fair, in a space of 20,000 square meters, continues the grand scale and panoramic presentation of the previous session. Over 121 participating institutions come from 32 cities in 12 countries around the world. Among them, Beijing Commune, Tang Contemporary Art Center, Tokyo Gallery + BTAP, White Space, Galerie Urs Meile, A Thousand Plateaus Art Space, Antenna Space and Star Space have participated for 7 consecutive years, reflecting their firm trust in growing and developing with the art fair. 52 participating galleries in 2024 will participate again this year, showing their confidence in the rise of the art fair and the Beijing art market.

New Faces at the Fair
28 galleries will make their debut at Beijing Dangdai, including Eslite Gallery (Beijing, Taipei), Dumonteil (Paris, Shanghai), Tiger Room (Munich), Gene Gallery (Shanghai), Tsutaya Bookstore (Tokyo), PSM (Berlin), and ShanghART Gallery (Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore). They will showcase diverse aesthetic propositions and artistic features of varying depth at the art fair, further reflecting the open and diverse "localism" under a global perspective that Beijing Contemporary has adhered to since its inception.

Gathering of Solo Exhibitions
The solo exhibitions in the art fair reflect the gallery's investment in exploring academic value and supporting artists. This year, many participating galleries in the Beijing Dangdai Art Fair will present solo exhibitions of important artists, including Zhang Peili's solo exhibition at Spurs Gallery, Yuko Mori's solo exhibition at White Space, Jing Kewen's solo exhibition at Platform China Contemporary Art Institute, and Liu Sheng's solo exhibition at Magician Space. These rich and diverse exhibitions within exhibitions will not only bring art projects at the museum level, but also fit the "curation" as a working method that the Beijing Dangdai Art Fair insists on. The WONDER and DIGITALLATION sectors will display public art works with public and dissemination characteristics by more than 10 artists. Artists from the China Film Art Society will also showcase the origins and mutual learning between film art and contemporary art through experimental projects.

Digital Upgrade
In 2020, Beijing Dangdai released Artloop, a WeChat applet, for the first time, and began a long-term exploration of using technology to empower the development of the art ecosystem. This year, Beijing Dangdai’s official mobile application, “Beijing Dangdai Artloop” App, was officially released. Users from all over the world can receive VIP invitations to art fairs, plan their itineraries during the art fair, read original content related to contemporary art, and query and navigate to hundreds of art institutions and dining locations throughout the city. It is an electronic art map that connects the entire city and an open platform that effectively aggregates the production and demand of different roles in the art ecosystem.

The Beijing Dangdai Art Fair has never lacked glittering stars. In this art fair, more well-known filmmakers and creators with multiple identities will deeply participate in various art projects. Actor Zhu Zhu, as the “Voice of Art" of this Beijing Dangdai Art Fair, will set up her "artistic living room" on site to activate the various possibilities of a space through exhibitions, performances, conversations and other actions.
